Use of the dry cleaned for oxygen brass ball valve

The dry cleaned for oxygen brass ball valve is specially cleaned and prepared to control different gas flows, such as oxygen, but also other atmospheric gases such as argon or nitrogen.

As far as it is concerned and while it is not a flammable gas itself, oxygen supports combustion. That is why dedicated valves have to be specifically treated in order to prevent any risk of dangerous reaction, such as fire or explosion, when coming into contact with other products (grease for instance).

Good to know: these valves are not appropriate for acetylene.

Syveco’s offer

Syveco offers four different models of dry cleaned for oxygen CW 617 N brass ball valves, with sizes ranging from 1/4” to 2”. Our models are equipped with female-female or male-male threaded BSP connections. They allow temperatures between -20 °C and +120 °C, and a maximum pressure of 40 bar until 1” (and then decreasing). In addition to being cleaned for oxygen, these brass ball valves also have a lot of additional features:

·         Plastic sealed individual sachet

·         Long threaded end

·         Full bore

·         Anti-blowout stem

·         Solid ball

·         PTFE packing + EPDM stem O ring

·         White lever or white butterfly handle

Zooming in on the dry-cleaning process

In order to prevent any risk, brass ball valves intended for use with oxygen go through a specific manufacturing process.

To start with, each part (body, sleeve, ball, seat, stem, lever) is stripped, sanded or degreased. No lubricant nor any grease-based product is used while assembling the valve. Once done, the brass ball valve receives a full high temperature and solvent-based degreasing treatment, in an autoclave. It is then packed in a sealed individual sachet. This way, there is no possible contact between any greasy substance and oxygen once the valve is operational.
